Director of eCommerce Sales

Job Location: Chicago or Remote



Kensium is currently seeking a Director of Ecommerce Sales to join our Team.  This is an ecommerce sales position for an individual with a proven track record for qualifying, facilitating and closing midmarket and enterprise eCommerce deals. We are a world-class eCommerce Agency working with Shopify Plus, BigCommerce and Adobe Commerce.

You should be a self-aware, self-starting individual with a well-rounded sales skillset. The right person for this job will pride themselves on taking responsibility for their role, but also not become too distracted by titles, because we often wear many hats, and each of us must do whatever it takes to get the job done. You should have the capacity to be given a task and own it because we loathe micro-management, and you should as well. You should be a sales person who is passionate about their work and strives for continuous improvement. This role carries with it the possibility of providing a good deal of influence on how our growing sales team matures as we expand our influence within the global Ecommerce eco-system. You should be a collaborative team member who is passionate about sharing the things you’ve learned as well as learning from others on the team.

A successful candidate will be business and sales savvy, Ecommerce-solution proficient and will be intellectually curious, analytical, skilled, dynamic, passionate, optimistic, self-driven and autonomous, thrive on ensuring our clients are successful, and a fast learner to boot!

  • Lead Sales and business development activities for the eCommerce practice to achieve sales revenue targets that meet or exceed plan
  • Build strong relationships at senior levels with our Tier-1 (i.e., Adobe/Magento, BigCommerce, and Shopify Plus) and Tier-2 partners (customer referral-based partners) organizations
  • Execute high impact, mutually beneficial business development and lead generation initiatives with Tier-1 and Tier-2 partners for maximum benefit to Kensium
  • Manage and monitor Tier-1 partnerships to ensure partnership requirements, status levels, and referral channels (e.g., partner portals, partner pages, co-branded collateral, etc.) are being maintained at an optimal level and fully leveraged
  • Plan, implement, and manage sales, business development, and marketing efforts leading to concrete sales opportunities
  • Build new business development collaborations in the retail, wholesale & distribution Sectors, from an eCommerce background and point-of-view
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the customer’s needs, market dynamics and requirements, and link the eCommerce solution’s value to the pains & gains of the C-level buyers
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of the eCommerce competitive landscape, to effectively position eCommerce solutions and relevant ISV solutions
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to discuss and articulate appropriate platforms, products, advanced product features, benefits, overall product solutions, and offer demos convincing the prospect about the product fitment
  • Coordinate with our eCommerce Sales Engineers, Solution Architects, and other internal technical resources for deeper customer demonstrations and solutioning
  • Coordinate with strategic partners and integrated software vendors to arrive at pricing of the overall solution
  • Work closely with the extended Kensium team to drive sales closures (Delivery, Account Management, PMO, Product, and Support)
  • Create proposals and SOWs and negotiate contracts
  • Maintain CRM and handle reporting to Senior Management and solution partners

Skills and Expertise

The ideal candidate will have:
  • An extensive, demonstrated history and success selling enterprise-level eCommerce solutions
  • Experience with complex selling & value-based (consultative) sales strategies
  • A high level of comfort with ROI and other quantitative cost-value analysis
    A proven track record of setting and achieving sales targets
  • Exceptional concept selling, communication, written, verbal and presentation skills
  • A proven ability to deliver results in a dynamic and uncertain environment
  • Excellent communication, planning, organization, and presentation skills
  • Strong customer relationship skills as a trusted advisor to our clients
  • Ability to conduct effective needs analysis
  • Good experience in CRM and MS Office Products
  • Expectations to travel up to 30%, as needed
  • Experience selling SaaS based solutions (e.g., BigCommerce and Shopify Plus) is a plus
  • Experience selling Adobe/Magento Commerce & Cloud is a plus
  • Experience with Acumatica or other ERP, order management, or other back office platforms is a plus
  • Experience in the Retail, Wholesale & Distribution industry sectors is a plus
  • The ability to work collaboratively and cross functionally (i.e., A strong Team Player)
  • A proven ability to successfully meet critical deadlines and revenue goals
    BS degree required
  • 6 years of experience in sales, 3 years leading a team or practice
