As a Senior Ecommerce Developer (BigCommerce), you will:
- Lead the development and customization of BigCommerce storefronts, themes, and apps across multiple client projects.
- Architect and implement scalable solutions that integrate seamlessly with ERP systems, third-party apps, and custom APIs.
- Collaborate closely with designers, project managers, and QA teams to deliver pixel-perfect, high performing ecommerce experiences.
- Optimize site speed, SEO, and conversion funnels to maximize client ROI and user engagement.
- Stay ahead of platform updates, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously elevate Kensium’s BigCommerce capabilities.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of ecommerce solutions on BigCommerce and custom stacks (React, Laravel).
- Review and refine technical requirements, ensuring alignment with client goals and Kensium’s architectural standards.
- Develop and integrate scalable APIs with ERP, CRM, payment gateways, and third-party systems.
- Set and enforce coding standards (PSR-12 and beyond) across projects to ensure maintainability and performance.
- Conduct peer reviews and mentor junior developers, fostering technical excellence and growth.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with UI/UX, QA, Product, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless delivery and quality.
- Optimize storefronts for performance, accessibility, and SEO using modern frameworks and best practices.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Identify modernization opportunities, driving innovation in workflows, frameworks, and integrations.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, BigCommerce platform updates, and ecommerce trends.
- Ensure deliverables meet testing standards, collaborating with QA to align on automation, regression, and performance testing strategies.
- Support pre-sales and solutioning efforts, providing technical insights and feasibility assessments for new opportunities.
Experience and Skills:
Technical Expertise:
- 7+ years of professional experience in ecommerce development, with 4+ years of hands-on experience in BigCommerce.
- Strong proficiency in Stencil theme development, custom app creation, and BigCommerce APIs.
- Proven experience building custom applications using React (frontend) and Laravel (backend).
- Deep understanding of REST/GraphQL APIs, microservices architecture, and ERP/CRM integrations.
- Skilled in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and modern frontend/backend frameworks.
- Familiar with Git, Composer, BigCommerce CLI, and CI/CD pipelines.
BigCommerce Expertise:
- Strong experience with BigCommerce Stencil framework, including theme customization and performance optimization.
- Proficient in BigCommerce API integrations (Storefront API, Admin API, Checkout SDK).
- Experience with Headless Commerce setups using BigCommerce as a backend with custom React frontends.
- Familiarity with BigCommerce Multi-Storefront, B2B Edition, and custom checkout flows.
- Experience integrating BigCommerce with ERP, CRM, payment, and fulfillment systems.
- Knowledge of SEO, accessibility, and performance tuning for BigCommerce storefronts.
Innovation & AI-Driven Development:
- Experience using AI-assisted tools like GitHub Copilot / Cursor for code generation, validation, and optimization.
- Knowledge of automated testing frameworks and code quality tools (e.g., PHPStan, PHPUnit, ESLint).
