Overview 

Wally’s partnered with Kensium to modernize its eCommerce operations through a headless Shopify implementation, integrated directly with Acumatica ERP and Sanity CMS. The goal was to combine flexibility, speed, and scalability with powerful backend automation—resulting in a platform capable of supporting rich storytelling, curated collections, and a rapidly evolving product catalog.

Challenges 

Complex Headless Architecture Rollout
Adopting Shopify’s Hydrogen-based headless approach required custom workflows, overcoming a learning curve, and managing edge cases in real time.
Data Synchronization Issues
Products in select categories (e.g., Gift Baskets, Caviar) were not displaying due to sync conflicts with Klevu.
ERP Integration Limitations
Known tax sync issues in Acumatica 24R1/24R2 required early detection and custom workarounds to avoid launch delays.
Operational Dependencies
Late discovery that the Shopify Connector license had not been procured required an alternate go-live plan to meet deadlines.
Platform Constraints
Shopify’s daily API sync limit (50K products/day) introduced challenges for full catalog publishing and validation.
