ABOUT THE VAULT PRO SCOOTERS:

The Vault Pro Scooters sells apparel, safety gear, every type of scooter part imaginable, and fully assembled custom scooters. They also sponsor professional and amateur scooter events, print their own magazine, and even built scooter/skate park behind their warehouse. They sell online and through their flagship store located in Inglewood, California.

THE CHALLENGE:

Vault’s main challenge was their products being oversold online.

  • They needed their warehouse data to sync with their website in real-time because too often a product featured on the website would be out of stock. This led to lots of backorders, refunds, and disgruntled customers.
  • Vault began experiencing higher rates of demand as well as requests for bulk orders. Since the company was operating out of its single warehouse, they considered drop shipping parts straight from manufacturers to customers. The problem was that their eCommerce platform at the time lacked the ability to sync the order data with inventory and shipping data, making drop shipping very difficult to track.

On top of this, Vault had a few other ongoing issues:

  • Vault was selling hundreds of specialized scooter parts, many of which could be customized for specialty builds. To ensure their customers found exactly the parts they wanted, Vault needed a better way to aggregate and segment their inventory on the website.
  • Vault had been using Drupal as both their CMS and eCommerce platform, but it limited their ability to showcase content to customers during the buyer’s journey.

THE SOLUTION:

Kensium implemented Magento 2 Commerce Edition and the Acumatica-Magento Connector, giving The Vault Pro Scooters consistent data sync between their new Magento platform and their Acumatica back office.

  • Thanks to Kensium’s Acumatica-Magento Connector, Vault’s website shows live inventory as it exists in the warehouse. Now Vault never has to worry about overselling an item again.
  • Implementing Magento 2 Commerce Edition has given Vault the drop-shipping capabilities they need to keep up with high demand and bulk orders. The Acumatica-Magento Connector syncs this drop-shipping data, keeping it consistent with Vault’s internal accounting and financials.

Implementing Magento 2 Commerce Edition solved Vault’s other issues as well:

  • The new store navigation and user interface Kensium implemented make it simple for customers to find and purchase full scooters, custom scooter parts, apparel, and safety gear. Because of the highly specific nature of scooter parts, as well as an expectation of certain styles and colors from their customers on those parts, Vault’s website now segments their inventory through dozens of clickable categories and subcategories. This novel user interface helps customers find what fits their exact specifications.
  • Kensium designed Vault's new website to showcase their content in a dynamic and attractive way, all through a Magento 2 custom design interface. All types of media can be embedded and updated instantly when they push content through the Magento CMS. Now Vault can push content tailored directly to their customers, including how-to guides for custom scooters, trick videos from professional scooter riders, and recap videos of professional/amateur scooter events.

THE NUMBERS:

2 weeks after the site went live, Vault saw immediate benefits:

THE TAKEAWAY:

Kensium was able to fix Vault's issues of overselling products, lack of data sync between commerce and ERP platforms, lack of drop shipping capabilities, and the need for a better CMS. As a result, The Vault Pro Scooters were able to improve their revenue, conversion rate, and average order value 2 weeks after the site launched.
